Uzbekistan is looking to get into hemp production.  Relevant amendments have been made to the country’s law on narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors.  According to these amendments, legal entities having a special license are allowed to grow industrial hemp.  

Content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in the in cultivated cannabis species should not exceed 0.2 percent, according to Fergana news agency.    

Recall, plans to grow industrial hemp were presented to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his trip to the territory of the former Kanop plant in Kuyichirchik district in January 2018  

According to the press service of the head of state, the president was informed on the readiness of agricultural machinery for seasonal irrigation, land reclamation, and agrotechnical activities planned for 2018-2019.

Plans to grow industrial hemp were also presented there.  Hemp is widely used in the light industry, the automotive industry, as well as in construction.  It is also a powerful antiseptic.
