Tajikistan’s national budget receives 60 million USD less in May this year

Date:

Tajikistan has significantly cut its budget’s revenue part due to coronavirus crisis.

Tajikistan has reached only 84.8 percent of the national budget for the first five months of this year, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

A source at a MoF says that over the report period the national budget’s revenues have amounted to little more than 8.105 billion somoni instead of the originally planned 9.340 billion somoni.

Over the first five months of this year, the country’s national budget has received 1.235 billion somoni (equivalent to 120 million U.S. dollars) less than it was originally planned.

The budget received 60 million U.S. dollars (USD) less over the first four months of this year and 60 million USD less in May.

The budget has reportedly failed to fulfill its target for January-May this year due to arrears of main taxes: income tax; capital gains tax; excise tax; and value added tax (VAT).

In late June, the government had to revise the national budget for this year.  The revenue part has been cut by 2.5 billion somoni – from 26.1 billion somoni to 23.6 billion somoni.  The expenditure part has been cut by 400 million somoni — from 26.4 billion somoni to 26 billion somoni.
