124 industrial enterprises were not in operation in Tajikistan last year

124 industrial enterprises have not been in operation over the past year, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).   

An official at a MoINT says those enterprises have suspended their operations due to shortage of raw material and current assets, depreciation of technological equipment, narrowness of the traditional subscription sales market, non-competitiveness of their products, refocusing activities as well as in connection with property disputes.  

Meanwhile, the industrial enterprises that have operated over the first six months of this year, have reportedly produced a total of more than 13.1 billion somoni worth of industrial goods.

Compared to January-June 2019, the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 109.2 percent.

According to data from the MoINT, 2,216 industrial enterprises have been registered in the country to date.  682 of them are located in the Sughd province, 604 are located in the Khatlon province, 464 are located in Dushanbe, 420 are located in district subordinate to center and 46 are located in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).   

The Industrial production in Tajikistan is reportedly provided mainly due to generation of electricity (29.3 percent of a total volume of industrial production in the country), mining industry (26.6 percent) and food industry (20.8 percent).
