Uzbek entrepreneur who set official on fire undergoes forensic psychiatric examination

Uzbek media reports, citing the Prosecutor-General’s Office of Uzbekistan, say that an Uzbek entrepreneur who has set an deputy head of Yakkabag district in Kashkadarya region on fire is currently in Tashkent for undergoing a forensic psychiatric examination.

Gazeta.uz says an entrepreneur in Kashkadarya region, Bahriddin Isamov, on July 20 poured gasoline on Mansour Tuimayev, the deputy head of Yakkabag district in Kashkadarya region, and set him on fire for his attempt to demolish the entrepreneur’s store and sewing workshop.

Tumayev was reportedly taken to a hospital with burn wounds.

According to kun.uz, the prosecutor’s office in Yakkabag district has instituted criminal proceedings against Isamov under the provisions of two articles of Uzbekistan’s Penal Code: Article 97 (1) – attempted intentional killing; and Article 25 – preparation for crime and criminal attempt.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Mansour Tumayev as well, says Gazeta.uz.  An investigation is under way.
