Russian air carriers waiting for Tajik authorities’ permission to operate charter flights from Tajikistan

Date:

Russian air companies Utair and Ural Airlines are waiting for permission from the Tajik authorities to operate charter flights from Tajikistan to repatriate Russian citizens stranded in Tajikistan due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Thus, Utair’s request for operation of charter flights from Tajikistan to Russia is currently under consideration by the Tajik authorities, according to the Tajik Embassy in Moscow.

“Utair intends to operate once-weekly services from Dushanbe to Moscow and from Khujand to Surgut,” a source within the Tajik Embassy told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, Ural Airlines is expected to send a request to operate charter flights from Tajikistan to Russia to other destinations in the near future.

Utair is a Russian airline with its head office at Khanty-Mansiysk Airport while its hubs are at Surgut International Airport and Vnukovo International Airport.  It operates scheduled domestic and some international passenger services, scheduled helicopter services, and extensive charter flights with fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters in support of the oil and gas industry across western Siberia.

Ural Airlines is an airline based in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia.  It operates scheduled and chartered domestic and international flights out of Koltsovo International Airport.
