Tajikistan decreases generation of electricity during autumn months

Tajikistan has decreased generation of electricity during autumn months.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under President of Tajikistan, Tajik hydropower plant generated little more than 3.8 billion kWh of electricity in September-November this year.

Over the reporting period, electricity generation in the country was 8.0 percent or 300 million kWh lower than in the same period last year. 

In September-November last year, Tajikistan reportedly generated almost 4.1 billion kWh of electricity.

Electricity generation by thermal power plants in January-November this year was reportedly 5.3 percent or 1 billion kWh lower than in the same period last year.

Over the first eleven months this year, thermal power plants have reportedly generated more than 17.7 billion kWh of electricity, which was 1 billion kWh lower than in the same period last year.  

In January-September this year, the share of hydroelectric power plants in the overall generation of electricity in Tajikistan was 92.3 percent and the share of thermal power plants over the reporting period was 7.7 percent.

Over the same eleven month period of this year, Tajikistan has reportedly supplied US$53 million worth of electricity to the neighboring countries, which is 41.9 percent or US$38.2 million less than in the same period last year.  

Meanwhile, some rural areas of Tajikistan itself currently have electricity only several hours per day.
