Beijing will accommodate Astana with loan to develop energy and infrastructure projects, Kazakh MFA informed.

“We appreciate China”s willingness to help Kazakhstan develop energy and infrastructure projects considering world financial crisis,” said Marat Tazhin at the meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in Beijing.

China will join Balkhash Power Plant and ”Western Europe – Western China” highway construction projects.

China is the fourth largest trade partner of Kazakhstan. Trade with China amounts to 10% from international trade of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is the second largest trade partner of China among CIS countries. Trade turnover amounted to USD 17.55 trillion in 2008, which increased figure of 2007 by 26.5%, import of Kazakhstan – USD 7.73 trillion, export – USD 9.82 trillion.

China is currently involved in Zhanazholsk gas processing plant, Pavlodar region, and Moynaks hydroelectric power station construction.

Inter-Government agreement on cooperation in gas and oil fields was singed by the countries on September 24, 1997.

The agreement will be signed during Nursultan Nazarbaev”s official visit to China in April.
