On Tuesday February 16, President Emomali Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali got acquainted with the pace of construction of Istiqlol (Independence) Square in Dushanbe, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Istiqlol Square is being built in the territory of the Istiqloliyat Park, which is currently under construction.

Emomali Rahmon and Rustam Emomali planted 36 California sequoias in one of parts of the park under construction.  

Construction work at this site began on July 20, 2020.  

A total area of the Istiqloliyat Park, which is being constructed in the center of Dushanbe (behind the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex, Avesta Hotel and Teachers’ Training University), will be 30 hectares,   

The Istiqloliyat and Ozodi (Independence and Freedom) architectural complex will be built in the area of 8.5 hectares.

The Istiqloliyat Park is expected to be commissioned in 2021 by the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan Independence, which is celebrated on September 9.
