DUSHANBE, April 3, 2009, Asia-Plus — Two conductors from Tajik Railways have been detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.

A source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that officers from the transportation police directorate detained two train conductors yesterday.  “1.675 kilograms of heroin were found hidden in one of passenger cars of the train Dushanbe-Moscow,” the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the train conductors and an investigation is under way.
