In January 2020, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan amounted to 408 million U.S. dollars, which is 60 percent of the January 2020 level, says the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan. 

Exports of goods in January this year reportedly amounted to only 89 million U.S. dollars, which was 70 percent fewer than in the same period last year.  

Imports of goods into the country in January this year reportedly amounted to some 320 million U.S. dollars, which is 3.2 percent more than in January last year.

The import-export coverage ratio was only about 28 percent. 

Over the reporting period, the major trading partners of Tajikistan reportedly were Kazakhstan (the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan valued at some 86 million US dollars in January this year), Russia (80 million U.S. dollars), Uzbekistan (65 million U.S. dollars), and China (35 million U.S. dollars), 

Meanwhile, the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan says the external trade turnover of Tajikistan in January this year amounted to 376.5 million U.S. dollars, which was 54.8 percent of the January 2020 level or 310.7 million U.S. dollars fewer.

The trade balance in January was negative and amounted to 187.7 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in January reportedly amounted to 89.4 million U.S. dollars, which was 76.6 percent or 286.3 million U.S. dollars more than in January last year.

Imports of goods into the country last month amounted to 287.1 million U.S. dollars, which was 7.8 percent or 24.4 million U.S. dollars fewer than in January last year.

In January this year, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 79 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In January, Tajikistan’s major trading partner countries for exports were Turkey – 29.6 prcent of a total volume of Tajikistan’s exports, Kazakhstan – 25.4 percent, Uzbekistan – 8.7 percent, China – 8.1 percent, Afghanistan – 6.4 percent, Belgium – 4.4 percent, Russia – 4.3 percent, Georgia – 3.1 percent, and others.

Over the reporting period, Tajikistan’s major trading partner countries for imports were Russia – 26.3 percent of a total volume of Tajikistan’s imports, Kazakhstan – 21.9 percent, China – 10.1 prcent, Uzbekistan – 9.2 percent, Germany – 4.4 percent, Turkey – 4.2 percent, Switzerland – 4.1 percent, Iran – 2.2 percent, and others.
