Tajik-Afghan Business Council established

An agreement on establishment of the Tajik-Afghan Business Council was signed in Dushanbe on March 29 during Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s official visit to Tajikistan.

The document was inked by heads of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and Afghanistan Chamber of Industry and Mines (ACIM), according to the CCI press center.

The Tajik-Afghan Business Center is dedicated to facilitate the expansion and development of business contacts and mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajik and Afghan entrepreneurs and organization of a constructive dialogue between business circles of Tajikistan and Afghanistan interested in further expansion of business cooperation between the two countries.  

The Business Council is expected to contribute to development of cross-border trade between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.    

Recall, a number of cooperation documents were signed during Afghan president’s visit to Tajikistan. 

Emomali Rahmon and Mohammad Ashraf Ghani signed a Joint Declaration.  Besides, the parties signed a roadmap for cooperation in the fields of politics, security, commerce, transportation, transit, energy and culture.  They also signed the plan of actions in the framework of the agreement on cooperation between the interior ministries of Tajikistan and Afghanistan in combating terrorism, organized crime and drug in 2021-2022.  The Committee on Terminology and Language of Tajikistan and the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan in the field of terminology and language signed a cooperation agreement.  The Accounts Chamber of Tajikistan and the Supreme Audit Office of Afghanistan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of public sector audit.
