DUSHANBE, February 6, Asia-Plus – During his stay in Cairo, President Rahmonov yesterday also met with Fath Suur (phonetically spelled), Speaker of Majlis ush-Sha’ba (Egypt’s parliament), Abdufattoh Sharipov, a spokesman for the Tajik president said.   

According to him, the meeting focused on establishment of cooperation between parliaments of the two countries.  The two noted that parliaments of the Muslim countries should undertake efforts to resolve social problems that could breed ground for terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime.   

According to the spokesman, Rahmonov stated, “We should have firm position on addressing these threats in order to protect our countries and the entire Islamic world against them as well as not to allow smirching Islam.” 

They also underlined an importance of participation of Tajikistan and Egypt in resolving regional and international problems.   

“For contributions of Tajik leader in the area of propagation of peace and resolving regional and international problems Egyptian speaker bestowed Gold Medal of Egypt on President Rahmonov,” Sharipov said.
