Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma has designated the development of renewable energy sources as a priority area of cooperation with the relevant UN agencies, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.

During the Conference to discuss strategic partnership between the government of Tajikistan and the UN in the field of sustainable development for 2023-2026, the minister pointed to the hydropower potential of the republic.

According to him, a special place in the energy sector of Tajikistan is occupied by hydropower resources, the potential of which is estimated at 527 billion kilowatt hours per year.

The minister added that these resources are environmentally friendly and renewable energy sources.

The conference was also attended by the heads of other relevant ministries and departments of the republic and representatives of UN agencies.
