The Government of Tajikistan plans to increase the state budget revenues in 2022 through raising tax receipts. Next year, tax receipts are projected to make up more than 62 percent of the state budget revenues.
The 2022 budget’s revenue part is projected to stand at 33 billion somonis, while tax receipts are projected to stand at 20.5 billion somonis next year.
In 2022, the authorities plan to increase the tax collection by 8.8 percent or 1.7 billion somonis compared to this year’s tax collection target.
Tax receipts are expected to be raised, first of all, due to the value added tax (VAT), which accounts for more than 40 percent of the full amount of tax receipts.
Next year, VAT receipts are projected to stand at 8.5 billion somonis, which is 11 percent more than the planned volume for this year.
A full amount of excise taxes is projected to stand at 852 million somonis, which is 25 percent more than the excise tax collection target for this year.
Compared to this year, full amounts of income tax on legal entities and income tax on physical entities (effective income tax) are expected to increase next year by 22 percent and 717 percent, respectively.
Tajikistan’s new Tax Code is expected to come into force next year. In the new Tax Code, income tax and corporate tax are combined under the name of taxes on incomes.
In general, the new Tax Code provides for seven taxes, including six national taxes, and one local tax. Currently, eight national taxes and two local taxes are in effect in Tajikistan.
