Tajikistan’s privately owned air carrier Somon Air and Hans Biotech Company have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for Tajik and South Korean citizens to travel between Tajikistan and South Korea for business and tourism purposes.

According to Somon Air, the document was signed by Somon Air CEO, Mr. Suhrob Jurayev and Hans Biotech CO-CEO Baekhee Han.

According to the terms of the memorandum, Somon Air shall undertake to arrange air connectivity on sector Dushanbe-Tashkent-Dushanbe on a regular and charter basis, and Hans Biotech shall undertake to arrange air connectivity on sector Tashkent-Seoul-Tashkent on regular and charter flights of Asiana Airlines. Flights are expected to operate in the spring of 2022.

Somon Air CEO Suhrob Jurayev noted: “Thanks to the Governments of the two nations, good bilateral relations are developing between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea, and we are pleased to sign a memorandum, as this cooperation will allow establishing air connectivity between the two countries through convenient connecting flights.  In addition, within the framework of code-sharing or interline commercial agreements with Asiana Airlines, for the convenience of our passengers, we intend to expand our route map."

Somon Air is the first private airline in Tajikistan with an office headquartered in Dushanbe.  The airline operations are based at Dushanbe International Airport.  The airline started operating on February 5, 2008 with regular flights to Moscow and Dubai.
