The Russian military announced early Thursday (February 24) morning that it has knocked out Ukraine’s air defense assets and airbases. 

TASS reports that the Russian Ministry of Defense said the Russian strikes have suppressed air defense means of the Ukrainian military, adding that the infrastructure of Ukraine’s military bases has been incapacitated."

“The Ukrainian border guards are not putting up any resistance to Russian units. The Ukrainian air defenses are suppressed.  The military infrastructure of Ukrainian Air Force bases has been degraded," the ministry said, according to TASS

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported later on Thursday that Russian troops were not delivering strikes against Ukrainian cities.  It emphasized that Ukrainian military infrastructure was being destroyed by precision weapons.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he unleashed an attack on Ukraine in a televised address early Thursday, drawing international condemnation.
