China company to rehabilitate four roads in northern Tajikistan

Date:

China’s Railway Wuju (Group) Corporation (CWRC) is expected to rehabilitate four roads in the northern province of Sughd, according to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan (MoT).

An official source at MoT says a relevant agreement on this subject was signed in Dushanbe on November 25.  The document was reportedly inked by Tajik Minister of Transport Azim Iborhim and CWRC Authorized Representative Zhang Lyan.

The agreement reportedly provides for rehabilitation of four roads in the Sughd province with a total length of 51.2 kilometers, including a 123-kilometer road connecting Dehmoi and the administrative center of Bobojon-Ghafourov district, a 6.6-kilometer road from the administrative center of Bobojon-Ghafourov to Khustevarz, and a 10.3-kilometer road connecting Konibodom and Kuchak.

“These roads will be rehabilitated within the framework of the Central Asian Regional Roads Improvement Program, Phase 4 worth 56.6 million U.S. dollars,” the source said.

According to him, the project also includes construction of eleven new bridges with a total length of 444.2 meters.

During the implementation of the project, the Chinese contractor should attract highly qualified engineers and technical workers, and local specialists should make up more than 80 percent of the project employees.
