Wheat flour prices dropping in some regions of Tajikistan

Over the past week, wheat flour prices have dropped in Tajikistan.  In some regions, the price for a 50-kilogram sack of the 1st grade wheat flour has fallen by 50.00 somonis.   

Over the past week, the price for a 50-kilogram sack of the 1st grade wheat flour at Dushanbe’s bazaars has fallen from 325.00 somonis to 290.00 somonis, with similar price falls in some other regions of the country decreases.

At bazaars in the northern city of Panjakent (Sughd province), the price for the 50-kilgoram sack of the 1st grade wheat flour has fallen from 330.00-340.00 somonis to 280.00 somonis. 

 the Panjshanbe bazaar in Khujand, the capital of the Sughd province, the price for the 50-kilgoram sack of the 1st grade wheat flour has fallen from 320.00-330.00 somonis to 265.00-270.00 somonis. 

Over the past week, the price for the 50-kilogram sack of the1st grade wheat flour at bazaars in Bokhtar, the capital of the Khatlon province, has dropped from 305.00-310.00 somonis to 285.00-295.00 somonis.      

Local experts say the price fall has resulted from increase in import and production of wheat flour in Tajikistan itself.

As far as the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) is concerned, it is far from the center and most of the food comes there from Dushanbe.

In GBAO, the 1st grade wheat flour produced by the mill based in the village of Boghef in the Shugnan district is sold at the rate of 300.00 somonis per 50 kilograms, while the imported1st grade wheat flour is sold at bazaars in GBAO’s capital Khorog at the rate of 340.00 somonis per 50 kilograms.  

Tajikistan’s annual requirements in wheat flour are determined at one million tons

Over the first ten months of this year, Tajikistan has imported more than US$15.9 million worth of about 45,000 tons of wheat flour.  

Over the same ten-month period, Tajikistan has imported US$236.5 million worth of 700,000 tons of wheat.
