DUSHANBE, September 29, Asia-Plus – President Emomali Rahmonov is meeting with a group of teachers today at 4:00 p.m.

The meeting is held on occasion of a Teacher Day, which is annually observed in Tajikistan each first Sunday of October.  

A source in the Ministry of Education said five best teachers of this year, who were competitively selected, will be given Presidential Awards.    

According to the Ministry of Education, at present 100,642 teachers work with secondary schools in Tajikistan.  In the meantime, Tajikistan has more than 9,000 teacher’s vacancies.

All in all, more than 115,000 teachers work in educational sector of the country.  4,722 teachers work with preschool institutions, 7,642 with higher educational institutions, and 2,480 with technical-vocational schools.
