In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, senior representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture revealed yesterday that Tajikistan last year exported more than 19 million pieces of eggs and 23 tons of poultry meat.

According to them, Tajikistan began to supply poultry products to other countries for the first time last year.

In 2022, Tajikistan reportedly exported 16 million pieces of eggs to Afghanistan and 3.2 million pieces of eggs and 23 tons of poultry meat to Uzbekistan.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, there are 218 poultry farms operating in the country and they produced more than 45,000 tons of poultry meat and 1.2 billion pieces of eggs.

It is to be noted that despite the growth in production of poultry products, prices for them increased last year.  Compared to 2021, egg prices rose 43.1 percent and chicken meat prices rose 10.3 percent last year.

Experts say the price hike has resulted from increasing prices for birdseeds and transportation services.

This year, Tajikistan plans to produce 61,000 tons of poultry meat and 1.209 billion pieces of eggs.
