Tajikistan’s external trade turnover estimated at little more than 1 billion US dollars in January-February

Over the first two months of this year, Tajikistan’s external trade turnover amounted to 1.018.4 billion U.S. dollars, which is 10.9 percent, or 124.71 million US dollars, less than in the same period last year.

Over the reporting period, the trade balance was negative and amounted to 556.2 million U.S. dollars.

In January February this year, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 90 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

Exports of goods over the first two months have amounted to 231.1 million U.S. dollars, which is 17.4 percent, or 48.8 million U.S. dollars, less than in January last year. 

Over the reporting period, the country’s exports include mainly mineral products (cement, ores and concentrates, electricity, coals) – 52.3 percent, precious and semi-precious metals and gems – 26.9 percent, non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 20.0 percent, products of plant origin – 2.9 percent, products of chemical industry – 1.6 percent, machinery and equipment – 3.9 percent, textiles – 17 percent, other goods – 2.3 percent.   

In January-February, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s exports were: Kazakhstan – 30.6 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; China – 24.9 percent; Turkiye – 12.9 percent; Russia – 10 percent; Uzbekistan – 6.9 percent; Iran – 6.4 percent; Afghanistan – 3.4 percent; the Virgin Islands – 1.2 percent; Croatia – 1.1 percent; and others.  

Imports of goods into the country over the reporting period have amounted to 787.3 million U.S. dollars, which is 8.7 percent, or 75.3 million U.S. dollars less than in January last year.  

Over the first two months of this year, the main items of Tajikistan’s imports period were: mineral products (cement, ores and concentrates, electricity, coals) – 52.3 percent, non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 10.0 percent, products of plant origin – 10.9 percent, products of chemical industry – 7.4 percent, finished food products – 7.9 percent, fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin – 3.5 percent, polymer materials, rubber and products of them – 3.4 percent, machinery and equipment – 11.9, wood and wood products – 4.2 percent, other goods – 22.6 percent.   

Over the first two months of this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s imports were: Russia – 27.1 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; Kazakhstan – 19.8 percent; China – 18.4 percent; Kazakhstan – 16.9 percent; Uzbekistan – 5.4 percent; Turkiye – 4.6 percent; Germany – 3.7 percent; Japan – 3.3 percent; Iran – 2.7 percent; the United States – 1.7 percent; Belarus, Turkmenistan and India – 1.5 percent each; the Republic of Korea – 1.4 percent; and others.  

Over the reporting period, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: Russia – 232percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s external trade turnover; Kazakhstan – 22.2 percent; and China – 19.9 percent.
