An online roundtable with participation of enterprises of light industry of Tajikistan and Russia’s Tatarstan Republic took place on April 10.

Citing the Ministry of Industry and trade of Tatarstan, Russia’s Realnoye Vremay (Real Time) online newspaper says the parties have discussed issues of supplying cotton finer and knitted fabrics from Tajikistan to Tatarstan.

“We see great potential in light industry, and therefore, we organized a meeting of our garment factories with representatives of Tajikistan’s largest companies Safir and Zarrin,” the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Ivan Kolchin was cited as saying.

Safir and Zarrin companies, which are reportedly the largest producers and exporters of cotton fiber, yarns and cotton fabrics in Tajikistan, presented their opportunities to enterprises of the light industry of Tatarstan.  Among them are Brossko, sewing workshop Iren, Bugulmin garment factory, Avalon-Production, Polimatiz, Almetyev hosiery factory Alsou, Shkolnaya Moda (School Fashion) Limited Liability Company and some others.

The roundtable participants reportedly agreed to organize a meeting in Tajikistan in late April.  A Tatarstan delegation is expected to visit Safir enterprise.

Recall, Head of Russia’s Tatarstan Republic Rustam Minnikahnov visited Tajikistan in early March as member of Russian delegation led by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.  While in Dushanbe, Minnikhanov was received by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister of Tajikistan Qohir Rasoulzoda.

Tatarstan is a republic of the Russian Federation, located in Eastern Europe.  It is a part of the Volga Federal District; and its capital and largest city is Kazan, an important cultural center in Russia.

Tatarstan is one of the most economically developed regions of Russia. The republic is highly industrialized and ranks second to Samara Oblast in terms of industrial production per square kilometer.
