On April 20, the Resident Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network in Tajikistan (AKDN), Mr. Qozidavlat Qoimdodov, participated in a meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan dedicated to the official presentation of the Program of Agro-food System Development and Sustainable Agriculture for the period up to 2030, according to the AKDN Dushanbe Office.

Along the other diplomatic missions and international organizations, the AKDN Resident Representative reportedly expressed his views on the Program of Agro-food System Development and Sustainable Agriculture for the period up to 2030 and noted that AKDN and its agencies as a long-standing and reliable partner have been contributing to the country’s agricultural development since 1993, and currently implements its agricultural programs and projects in more than 45 districts.

The Resident Representative also pointed out the need to attract foreign investments of development partners to the development of this important sector and expressed the future useful cooperation in the agro-industrial complex.

Tajikistan’s economy is largely dependent on agriculture, which accounts for half of total employment and cultivates the country’s 850 thousand hectares of arable land. 

AKDN works for an economically dynamic, politically stable, intellectually vibrant and culturally tolerant Tajikistan.  Several AKDN agencies collaborate to bring the government, private sector and civil society together, establish institutions and carry out programs to help with needs as diverse as banking, e-learning and avalanche prevention.  AKDN covers all regions of the country and employ over 3,500 people in health care, education, business, finance and cultural activities.
