Tajikistan interested in purchasing Iranian tractors, says Tajik agriculture minister

Over the first three months of this year, Tajikistan has imported 20 tractors and 88 of other farm equipment from the Islamic Republic of Iran.    

This was noted at a meeting of Tajikistan’s Minister of Agriculture Qurbon Homidzoda with Iran’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Mohammad Taghi Saberi that took place here on July 4.

The press center of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) says the parties discussed issues related to further plans for the expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in in the agrarian sector.

Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company (ITMCO) CEO Mostafa Vahidzadeh and senior representatives of Tajikagrileasing reportedly also attended the meeting.  

It is to be noted that Tajikistan last year imported 427 tons of fish feeds from Iran.  Over the first quarter (January-March) of the last year, Tajikistan reportedly imported 100 plows from Iran and purchased 12 tractors TAJIRAN-475 and TAJIRAN-470.  

Over the first four months of this year, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and the Islamic republic of Iran has valued at about 81 million US dollars, which is 6.5 million US dollars more than in the same period last year.
