In January-June this year, gross agricultural product from all categories of farms in Tajikistan has been 18.6587 billion somonis (TJS) (in current prices) and increased by 7.9 percent compared to the same period last year, including crop growing products – 13.2243 billion somonis — by 10.4 percent, and animal husbandry – 5.4344 billion somonis or 2.4-percent increase, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Over the reporting period, the share from public farms in the overall gross agricultural product has reportedly amounted to 10.2 percent.
Over the same six-month period, the share from dehqon (farmer-run) farms has amounted to 45.5 percent, and the share from farms belonging to the population has amounted to 44.3 percent.
Over the reporting period, all categories of farms have produced 705259 tons of grain, including 630719 tons of wheat.
Compared to January-June last year, the grain production has increased by 2.5 percent, and the wheat production has increased by 3.4 percent.
In January-June this year, Tajikistan has produced 261510 tons of potatoes (0.4-percent increase compared to the same period last year), 1,136,199 tons of vegetables (10.2-percent increase), 299,218 tons of melons and gourds (5.4-percent increase), 185,418 tons of fruits (1.6-fold increase), 2,343 tons of grapes (4.1-percent decrease), and 437,238 tons (in fodder units) of fodders (3.7 percent increase).
As of July 1, 2023, there were 2,605,600 head of cattle on all categories of farms (4.5-percent increase compared to that date of the preceding year), 6,610,100 head of sheep and goats (5.3-percent increase).
In January-June this year, Tajikistan has produced 76,995 tons of meat of large and small cattle ()4.6-percent increase compared to the same period last year, 23,817 tons of chicken meat () 17.3-percent increase), 394,131 tons of milk (3.0-percent increase), and 555 million pieces of eggs (3.8-percent decrease).
