A mild tremor having a magnitude of 3.0 could be felt in Dushanbe Thursday afternoon, at 2:20 pm, according to the Emergencies Committee under the government of Tajikistan. 

A tremor of the same magnitude was reportedly also felt the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), in some districts of Khatlon province and in the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan).

The earthquake at lower magnitude was felt in the northern Sughd province – 2.0.

No damage or injured was reported, according to the Emergencies Committee.   

An official source within the Emergencies Committee says a strong earthquake struck northern Afghanistan.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), a powerful earthquake having a magnitude of 6.4 in its epicenter struck in The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) in Jurm district in the Afghan province of Afghanistan.   

The quake was reportedly felt in the capital Kabul, about 300 kilometers from Jurm.

Meanwhile, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) says an earthquake measuring 6.3 magnitude struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan on Thursday.  According to EMSC, the quake was at a depth of 201 kilometers. 

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Afghanistan is frequently hit by earthquakes, especially in the Hindu Kush mountain range, near the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.
