On Monday March 11, President Emomali Rahmon received Uzbek Prime Minister Abdualla Aripov, who arrived in Dushanbe to in the next meeting of the Tajik-Uzbek Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.  

The Tajik president’s official website says the parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of friendly relations, cooperation and partnership between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.  

Rahmon and Aripov reportedly also reviewed issues on the agenda of the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Pointing to the growth of the bilateral trade, which valued at more than 504 million US dollars last year, Emomali Rahmon emphasized that there are still opportunities and resources to multiply this indicator, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In this context, the parties reportedly focused on the expansion of cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture, energy, including the production of "green energy" and the development of the "green economy".

Discussion of ways to enhance scientific-technical and cultural-educational ties was also one of the key topics of the meeting.
