Fifty-two of the Ministry of Defense and some other government bodies have been charged with embezzling millions from the Ministry of Defense treasury, an official with the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption told reporters in Dushanbe on August 9. 

According to him, investigation into the cases has been completed and they have moved to the Supreme Court.  

The anticorruption agency official refrained from giving their names and positions. 

He just noted that financial damage caused by the accused amounted to 123.1 million somonis; of this amount, 93 million somonis have been reimbursed to date.  

According to Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption, the defense sector is in the fifth place among the eight most corrupt sectors.
