In Faizabad, the administrative center of Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province, the Taliban have issued a decree prohibiting men from shaving their beards or getting "Western-style" haircuts, Anhor.uz reports.

The decree, as published by the "8 Sobh" outlet, states that such practices contradict Sharia law.  Residents are strongly urged to abandon these habits.

Additionally, the new order restricts nighttime movement, banning men from going out after 10 PM without urgent need.

Women face additional regulations requiring strict adherence to Sharia hijab norms when leaving their homes or visiting markets.

The decree does not specify why these restrictions target this particular region.  Similar bans on beard shaving have previously been implemented in other areas under Taliban control.

Earlier, Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhundzada signed an order requiring residential buildings to be designed to prevent neighbors or passersby from seeing women inside.
