Emomali Rahmon invited to attend May 9 Victory Day events in Moscow

The Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited the Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to attend events dedicated to the World War II Victory Day that will take place in Moscow on May 9, the Tajik president’s official website reported on May 5.

Putin reportedly invited Emomali Rahmon to attend Victory Day events during a telephone conversation.

In the course of the phone talks, the heads of state congratulated each other on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Victory Day, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

During the conversation, the presidents reportedly emphasized the positive trend of the development of strategic partnership relations between Tajikistan and Russia in all areas of cooperation and expressed their readiness for the rapid development of relations in various spheres of cooperation.

Rahmon and Putin also exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest, including the situation along Tajikistan’s common border with Afghanistan.

They also discussed the schedule of bilateral and multilateral events this year.

Recall, earlier reports said that Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov was the only foreign leader expected to attend the Victory Day’s events in Moscow, which include a military parade on Moscow's Red Square.
