Tajikistan, Iran sign seventeen cooperation document

The Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran have signed 17 documents on cooperation in various fields at the conclusion of a high-profile meeting co-chaired by the presidents of the two nations in Tehran.

Recall, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon arrived in Tehran Sunday (May 29) evening on a two-day official visit. 

Presidential adviser for foreign relations, prosecutor-general, ministers of foreign affairs, energy and water resources, economic development and trade, transport, and finance as well as heads of the  state committee for land management and geodesy, the committee for environmental protection, the tourism development committee, Khatlon province governor, head of the chamber for commerce and industry and some other officials reportedly accompanied Emomali Rahmon on his visit to Iran.

On Monday May 30, he co-chaired the joint meeting of high-ranking delegations with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi.

At the conclusion of the meeting, senior officials from the two countries signed 17 cooperation agreements.  The documents entail political, economic and trade cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe, relations in the transportation sector, joint investment, new technologies, environmental issues, the energy sector, sports interaction, judicial cooperation, research and training, as well as the tourism industry.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, Rahmon and Raisi signed a joint statement.  Then a number of cooperation documents were signed their presence:

– A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan and the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; 

– A MoU on cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and the Government of Iran on cooperation in the field of industry and new technologies;  

– A MoU on cooperation between the National Museum of Tajikistan and the National Museum of Iran; 

– A MoU on cooperation the Government of Tajikistan and the Government of Iran in establishing the Joint Investment Committee; 

– A program of cooperation between the Committee for Youth and Sports Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Iran; 

– A program of cooperation between the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Cooperatives Labor and Social Welfare; 

– A government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Iran on mutual assistance in criminal matters; 

– A long-term program of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran for 2022-2030; 

– A MoU on cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Petroleum of Iran in the oil and gas sector;

– A MoU on cooperation between the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and the Ministry Roads Urban Development of Iran in expanding international road transport; 

– A MoU on cooperation between the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan and the Department of Environment in the field of the environment; 

– A program of cooperation between the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran; 

– A MoU on cooperation between Tajikistan’s Khatlon Province and Iran’s Razavi Khorasan Province in the fields of culture, science and tourism;  

– A MoU on cooperation between the State Committee for Land Management and Geodesy of Tajikistan and Planning Organization of Iran;

– A MoU on cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and the Securities and Exchange Organization of Iran; 

– An agreement on the establishment of the Joint Business Council of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
