Possibilities of removing barriers in mutual trade of the CIS countries was discussed in Dushanbe

The 107th meeting of the CIS Economic Council was held in Dushanbe on September 5. The agenda included 27 issues, of which 17 will be submitted for consideration by the Council of Heads of Government on September 29 in Minsk.

One of the key issues was the removal of barriers to mutual trade. The High-level Working Group reported that 37 of the 42 claims received had been resolved. Tajikistan presented a project on digitalization of multimodal transport corridors, which is aimed at improving logistics efficiency, reducing costs and developing trade and economic ties.

The CIS countries have agreed on a Strategy for cooperation in the field of digital economy and information society, which defines common approaches to the formation of the digital space until 2035. The Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development for 2026-2035 was also supported. It is aimed at strengthening scientific sovereignty and expanding cooperation in priority areas of research and technology.

Special attention was paid to the development of innovation infrastructure: expansion of the network of business incubators, knowledge transfer centers and commercialization of innovations. These measures should facilitate the creation of new startups and the introduction of modern technologies.

Another important decision was the holding of the Year of Health Protection in the CIS in 2026. The action plan provides for joint steps to preserve the health of citizens, exchange of experience and cooperation with the World Health Organization.

In addition, issues of intellectual property, subsoil use, as well as support for small businesses were discussed.

The next meeting of the CIS Economic Council will be held on December 5 in Moscow.
