Update: cause of fire in apartment in Tajik capital under investigation

DUSHANBE January 12, Asia-Plus – Victims of fire in apartment No 1, 144/1 Nemat Qaraboyev Street (western part of Dushanbe), are members of one family.   

Jamilya Tilloyeva, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), has told Asia-Plus that householder 47-year-old Safar Saydaliyev, his wife, the 38-year-old Musharrafa and their four children, an 18-year-old Gulsara, 12-year-old Alikhon, 11-year-old Rajabgul and a three-year-old Mavzuna are in hospital.  Of them, the householder’s wife Musharrafa is a serious condition, according to the source.   

In the meantime, the cause of the fire is under investigation.  It is not clear yet whether the fire was caused by a gas blast or by overload in the apartment’s electrical system, according to the MES source. 

Specialists from interior ministry, emergency services and gas concern “Tojikgaz” are currently working in the site of the accident.
