, April 21, Asia-Plus – A group of specialists from Tajik Ministry of Energy will visit
Afghanistan
in near future to negotiate the possibility of transit supply of Turkmen gas to
Tajikistan
via the Afghan territory, Energy Minister Jurabek Nurmahmadov announced at a news conference in
Dushanbe
on April 20.
According to him, a regular provision of the country’s population with natural gas will be possible if the issue of the construction of gas pipeline from
Turkmenistan
to
Tajikistan
via
Afghanistan
is solved.
“It is still premature to speak about the budget for this project, but
Afghanistan
’s authorities are also interested in solution of this issue because in this case they will have an opportunity to export Afghan natural gas to
Tajikistan
as well,” the minister noted.
