Tajikistan

in January-March this year, Tajik Justice Minister Khalifabobo Homidov announced at a news conference in

Dushanbe

on April 24.

According to him, 2,700 public associations and eight political parties have officially been registered as of

April 1 2006

.  “To date, 263 public associations and eight political parties have already informed the ministry of their current activities and locations of their headquarters,” Homidov said.

The justice ministry and its sub-divisions in the provinces have transferred to the country’s national budget 1.175 million Somonis over the first quarter of the year, Khalifabobo Homidov said.

Speaking to journalists, the minister also said that materials of the case of Tajik Journalists’

Union

had moved to courts because the union’s charter violated provisions of Tajik legislative norms.

As it had been reported earlier, a court in

Dushanbe

halted the activities of Tajik Journalists’

Union
