DUSHANBE, April 12, 2009, Asia-Plus — The Youth Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is expected to be founded in May, according to the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs.

The founding congress of the SCO Youth Committee is scheduled to take place in Yekaterinburg, Russia’s Sverdlovsk region on May 4 and senior representatives of the SCO member nations’ youth organizations and diplomatic missions of the SCO member and observer states in Moscow as well as representatives of social organizations and universities will attend the conference. 

Foundation of the SCO Youth Committee will allow expanding cultural and educational cooperation between member nations of the Organization and will give a new impulse to further development of the SCO, the source said.
