KHUJAND, November 5, 2010, Asia-Plus — An international symposium entitled “Migration Bridge between Central Asia and Russia under Conditions of Economic Crisis” took place in Khujand the capital of Sughd province on November 3-4.
Known specialists from 12 countries, including Tajikistan, Russia, Japan, Spain, Vietnam, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine and Uzbekistan participated in the event both by joining the meeting in Khujand and through video conference. The symposium participants discussed important aspects of labor migration.
New surveys conducted by researchers from the Center for Social Demography and Economic Sociology within the Institute for Social and Political Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences were presented on sidelines of the conference.
The symposium resulted in adoption of recommendations on creation of a regulated international labor market, protection of fights of labor migrants, improvement of their vocational skills, training of highly skilled specialists of international level, etc.
The symposium is the result of a fruitful joint work of Tajik specialists and their Russian colleagues from the Center for Social Demography and Economic Sociology and the logic continuation of last year’s symposium “Migration Bridge between Central Asia and Russia: Modeling and Management of the Migration Flows” that was also held in Khujand.
