Tajikistan introduces electricity rationing

DUSHANBE, November 3, 2010, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan officially introduces electricity rationing. The Government of the country has approved new schedule designed to limit power supplies in Tajikistan for November 2010, a spokesperson for Barqi Tojik Nozirjon Edgori told the AP.

“Taking into account the volume of energy reserves, power supply rationing will be introduced in a series of regions of the country. The rationing will not be introduced in Dushanbe, regional centers and such cities as Kulob, Nurek, Rogun, Kairakkum, Chkalovsk, Tursunzade and Sarband. Vital facilities and administrative institutions will also avoid the newly introduced electricity rationing,” the source has said.

Edgori said that in November last year electricity rationing did not exceed 7 hours per day. “This year we have better situation since newly introduced electricity rationing will be higher than 12 hours a day,” he added.
