Chinese company delivers equipment for construction of Khujand-Ayni power grid

DUSHANBE, November 3, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Chinese company, Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co. Ltd, has begun to deliver equipment for construction of the 220-kV Khujand-Ayni power transmission line, according to Barqi Tojik power holding (Tajik electricity supplier).

“Representatives from TBEA say the practical implementation of the project will start in mid-November and the power grid will be finished in 1½ years,” said the source, “A total cost of the project is some 36.9 million U.S. dollars and it is financed by the Chinese side.”

The power grid, 118 kilometers in length, will connect the Zeravshan Valley to the 500-kV power transmission lie South-North and will help solve power supply problems in the area.
