DUSHANBE, August 30, 2010, Asia-Plus — Speaking at ceremonies of opening of new schools in Roudaki and Hissar districts, President Emomali Rahmon on August 30 drew attention of those present to increase in the number of young Tajiks attending foreign religious schools that have disreputable character, according to presidential press service.
The head of state asked parents of students attending religious schools abroad to bring their children home back, “until they become extremists or terrorists.” He added that there were functioning government religious schools and that it would be better that students study in these schools or be sent abroad, as long as they have the permission and regulation of the Committee for Religious Affairs.
Rahmon noted that the government paid a special attention to enhancement of the education sector in the country. Education spending has increased more than 30 times over the past decade, he stressed.
