DUSHANBE, August 6, 2010, Asia-Plus – An operation by officers from the counternarcotics agency led to the arrest of four alleged drug peddlers in Dushanbe on August 5.
According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA), 18 kilograms of narcotics, including 4 kilograms of heroin 14 kilograms of raw opium, were confiscated from them.
“During interrogation, the detainees said they purchased the drugs from an Afghan national for the purpose of transporting it outside the country,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them under the provisions of Article 200 (drug trafficking) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
