Khatlon needs at least 100 additional schools, says Khatlon governor

QURGHONT EPPA, February 7, Asia-Plus — The Khatlon governor Amirsho Miraliyev Tuesday [February 7] gave a news conference on the region’s economic results in 2005. 

Speaking to journalists Miraliyev noted that it was necessary to resolve problem with shortage of pupils’ seats at schools before September 1.  

According to him, at present some 22,000 pupils in the region are studying in third shift for shortage of seats.   “Although compared to 1992 a number of schools in the region has increased by 276 facilities and at present 1271 schools are operating in the region, we have to build at least 100 new schools,” Khatlon governor noted.  

Miraliyev also told journalists that to date, 95 kindergartens accommodating more than 12,000 children have functioned in the region.  “This year, it is planned to increase number of kindergartens in Qurghon Teppa,” said the governor, “They will be constructed at the expense of the city budget.”
