Experts from MET predict new spike in gasoline prices in Tajikistan

, February 8, Asia-Plus  — New gasoline price rises are expected to take place in


Tajikistan


within the next three or four months, Odina Odinayev, an official with the Ministry of Economy, has said in his interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, these price rises will result from the rising cost of petroleum products all over the world.  Fuel prices rising all over the world will lead to a 10-15 percent increase in the price of gasoline in the republic, Odinayev said.  

Odinayev has noted that new gasoline price hikes may be expected already in early spring this year.  “The point is that gasoline prices are usually rising in late February in connection with sowing campaign,” said the Asia-Plus interlocutor, “Farmers are making preparations for the sowing campaign and purchasing fuel.”   

In the meantime, according to data from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, over the last month, gasoline prices in the republic have reduced by 10.1 percent and diesel prices have reduced by 21 percent.

reduced from 2.10 Somonis in December last year to 1.90 Somonis in January this year, with similar price reductions in other parts of the republic.  The price of one liter of 95-octane gasoline has reduced from 1.90 Somonis to 1.80 Somonis, and one liter of diesel fuel has reduced from 2.20 Somonis to 1.90 Somonis.
