DUSHANBE. June 2. “Asia-Plus” — Neither internal nor foreign investors are attracted by Tajikistan’s investment climate, ADB Country Director for Tajikistan Makoto Ojiro spoke on Wednesday, June 2, in Dushanbe.

Even though Tajikistan’s government undertakes a series of steps for improvement of investment climate in the country, this is not enough, he said.

ADB Office in Tajikistan is currently developing a programme aimed at improvement of investment climate in the republic, Makoto Ojiro has said. “Within the nearest time this programme will be presented to Tajikistan’s government,” he spoke. “The programme is expected to have a $34mln budget.”

The programme will consist of two reforming elements. “Firstly, these are issues connected with trade since we believe that currently there is a great number of multiple barriers which hamper trade development,” he stressed. “The second component provides for improvement of access of small and medium entrepreneurs to capital.”

He noted that in June this year ADB finance commission will visit Tajikistan to study the given issue. “The programme will be submitted to ADB Board this year,” he added.
