DUSHANBE, April 26, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) will make a decision on creation of conditions for establishment of local banks with relatively small authorized capital stock in the provinces.

The NBT head Sharif Rahimzoda remarked this at a news conference in Dushanbe on April 26.

According to him, the minimum capital requirements for such regional banks are set by Tajik central bank at 10 million somoni, while the NBT’s minimum capital requirements for commercial banks based in Dushanbe and Khujand are set at 50 million somoni.

“An appropriate decision on this subject will be adopted in the near future,” Rahimzoda said, adding that there are enough persons in the provinces that could afford to launch such banks.
