Rahmatullo Mardiktoev, a 10th-grade student of School No. 40 in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district, was awarded a letter of appreciation and a cash prize from the leadership of the capital’s police, the Dushanbe Police Department reports

A few days ago, he showed courage and decisiveness by preventing a young girl’s suicide attempt.

It is noted that his action became an example for teenagers and youth.

The capital’s police also thanked the student’s parents and teachers for their worthy upbringing and education.

Earlier, the heroic act of Rahmatullo was reported by the Dushanbe Police Department. On April 20, the capital’s police wrote in its Telegram channel that on the night of April 19, around 21:00 on the capital’s Sokhili street, under the bridge near the former Sultoni Kabir market, a young girl attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the river and was saved by Rahmatullo Mardiktoev.

“Thanks to his efforts, the girl was pulled out of the water and taken to the IstiQlol hospital,” the police post reported.

According to the police department, the reason for the suicide attempt was a family conflict, and the girl is currently under medical supervision.

The Dushanbe police thanked Rahmatullo “for fulfilling his civic duty and saving the girl from a suicide attempt.”

Later, Asia-Plus found Rahmatullo Mardiktoev and, with his mother’s permission, briefly spoke with him about the details of the incident.

“I saw something being carried away by the water; it got stuck at a metal structure. I jumped into the water and realized it was a girl. I pulled her out, called an ambulance, but realized they would arrive late, so I stopped a car and took the girl to the istiqlol hospital…”, Rahmatullo said.
