DUSHANBE, April 12, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Heavy rainfalls have caused the Yakhsou River to overflow and submerge the village of Ghofilobod in the Vose district, Khatlon province.

According to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES), torrential rain on April 11 caused the River Yakhsou to overflow and flood the Ghofilobod village in Vose.  “There were no casualties because all the 147 families living in the village were evacuated in proper time,” the source said, noting that the situation is now under the control.

Besides, yesterday’s heavy rainfalls also affected the city of Kulob, the Muminobod and Shuroobod districts in Khatlon as well as a number of districts subordinate to the center.  No serious damage was reported, according to the source.
