No changes made to the regime of controlling Tajik-Kyrgyz border, says Tajik border service

DUSHANBE, April 8, 2010, Asia-Plus  — No changes have been made to the regime of controlling Tajikistan’s common border with Kyrgyzstan in connection with the latest developments in the neighboring republic, according to press service of the main border troops directorate within the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Tajikistan.

The source has refrained from giving further details.

In the meantime, referring to the Kyrgyz Service for National Security (SNB), the CIS TV and radio company Mir reports that Tajik border guards along the Tajik-Kyrgyz border were allegedly put on alert yesterday.

The situation on the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border is stable and it is opened for movement f people and cargos, Mir reports, referring to the spokesman for Kyrgyz SNB.  Work on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border also being carried out in a routine regime, according to Mir.

Meanwhile, BBC News reported today morning that Reuters quoted the Kyrgyz border control as saying the frontier with Kazakhstan had been closed.
