KHUJAND, April 7, 2010, Asia-Plus — “Dolina Mira” (Valley of Peace) Ferghana Valley NGO Network will hold the next meeting in the city of Osh, Kyrgyzstan on April 12-13.
A final presentation of surveys on migration processes in the Ferghana Valley, religious situation in border areas of the region and the findings of survey of problems of use of local pastures is expected to take place on sideline of the meeting, the source said, noting that all those surveys were conducted in 2009-2010.
The upcoming meeting is also expected to consider issues related to the Network’s activities in the coming months and possible actions in the framework of the consolidated projects and small grants programs.
The NGO Network of the Ferghana Valley “Dolina Mira” is a voluntary, informal union of non-government organizations of the Ferghana Valley. It is an open, public, non-profit organization.
Since 2003, the Network has been supported by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), which is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (Danida). Under the small grant program, the Network is also supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). UNDP-Kyrgyzstan and the European Center for Conflict Prevention (Holland) have also provided support for individual projects.
The Network was established at a general assembly on April 14-16, 2004 in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province. The Network members now include 30 non-governmental organizations which are officially registered in the own countries and are interested in the achievement of the aims and objectives of the Network.
