The delegation of Tajikistan, led by Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, who is on a working visit to the Russian Federation, visited the Donskoy Cemetery in Moscow on May 18, where the founding fathers of Soviet Tajikistan, Nusratullo Maksum, Shirinsho Shotemur (Shirinshoh Shohtemur), and Nisor Muhammad, are buried in mass graves.

In a solemn ceremony, the Tajik delegation was presented with capsules containing soil from the burial sites of these outstanding figures, which will soon be delivered to Tajikistan.

The special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for cultural cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy, also participated in the ceremony.

The soil from the graves of Maksum, Shotemur, and Muhammad will be delivered to Dushanbe, where it will become part of a memorial, said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan at the capsule handover ceremony.

On the same day, Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The heads of the foreign affairs departments discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Tajik-Russian cooperation and “synchronized their watches” on pressing issues of the international agenda, according to a brief statement from the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan.
